I know I shouldn’t be surprised when faced with new technology but sometimes I am. The new AGA iTotal Control is exactly the direction cookers and appliances should be heading in.
AGA cookers are traditional-looking and AGA itself is an iconic British brand. I don’t think many expected the company to be leading the way when it came to smart cookers.
There are a number of ways to control this new AGA cooker. The coolest way is via an app (available for both iPhone and Android). You can choose to turn the whole cooker on or off or you can operate each of the three ovens individually.
If you don’t have a smart phone then you could simply text your AGA iTotal Control or go on the web to tell it to turn on/off. Or you can just log in via the website to communicate with your cooker.
AGA is using Orange technology to run the communications element of iTotal Control. Marc Overton, VP of Wholesale and M2M for Orange, said: “We are very proud to be working with such an iconic British brand and starting a conversation between people and their ovens all over the world.”
This is one of those things that makes me think ‘why isn’t everyone doing this?’ There is so much crazy technology out there but none of it has really filtered through to the kitchen yet.
The AGA iTotal Control is priced at £10,090 and will be available from June 1st. For more information visit www.agaliving.com or call 08457 125 207.
